Can
I use my doctor's EveryMD.com e-mail address to send messages to my doctor using
my normal e-mail program?
No. Your doctors EveryMD
e-mail address is a virtual e-mail address contained within our system, not a
regular e-mail address. If you try
to send a message using your normal e-mail program, you will get a message back
letting you know that your message was not delivered and asking you to resend
your message through the EveryMD.com website.
By requiring messages to doctors to be sent through the EveryMD.com
system, we greatly reduce the risk of misuse and ensure that your doctor
receives only appropriate types of messages.

Can
I use EveryMDs Doctor E-Mailer service
to
send messages asking for medical advice or urgent medical consultations?
No, at least not
yet. EveryMDs Doctor E-Mailer
is currently intended for routine, non-urgent, administrative, non-consulting
communication purposes only. Other
types of communications to your doctor involve complex issues of security,
reliability, accountability, billing, oversight, record keeping and management,
particularly on your doctor's end, that need to be addressed before opening up
the EveryMD system to these kinds of communications.
For urgent medical needs and medical consultations, the best way to
communicate with your doctor is still by telephone or by going directly to your
doctor's office or to a hospital or other urgent care facility.

Will
I be able to find all of my and my family's different doctors in EveryMD's
doctor database?
At EveryMD, we are constantly striving to maintain an accurate, complete
and up-to-date database. Occasionally,
however, you may not be able to find one of your or your family's doctors in our
database. If that happens, please
let us know immediately by contacting us at service@everymd.com,
. We will do our
best to find your doctor and add your doctor to our database as quickly as
possible.

How
will I know whether my doctors office has received my e-mail message?
EveryMD
will send you an
e-mail confirmation after your e-mail message has been sent to your doctor's
office fax machine. The response
time of your doctor's office will vary from office to office. As with any form of communication, there is also always a
possibility that your message may be overlooked or misplaced after it arrives at
your doctor's office. If you do not
hear from your doctor's office within 24 hours of sending your message, EveryMD
strongly recommends that you follow up by contacting your doctor's office by
telephone to verify that your message has been received.
If you don't have your doctor's telephone number handy, you can find it
at the EveryMD website by clicking on "To visit your doctor's
website, Click Here."

Should
I use EveryMDs
Doctor E-Mailer service to send urgent or highly confidential messages?
No. EveryMDs Doctor E-Mailer service is not intended to
transmit messages that are urgent or highly confidential, because
we cannot control what happens in your doctor's office once we deliver your
message to your doctor's office's fax machine. If you need to send an urgent or
highly confidential message to your doctor's office, we recommend that you use
your telephone or visit your doctor's office in person.

Why
can't I just communicate with my doctor by regular e-mail?
There are many
reasons why your doctor does not yet allow you to communicate with your doctor
or doctor's office using regular e-mail. Your
doctor may be concerned about the security of e-mail systems, your doctor may be
concerned about the ability to properly diagnose conditions and answer medical
questions without having direct contact with patients, your doctor may be
worried that he will be overwhelmed with e-mails once he opens the door to
e-mail communications, or your doctors office may not yet be online or may
otherwise not yet be equipped to handle general e-mail messages.
In addition, new laws concerning the privacy of patient medical records
means that your doctor has to be extra careful about sending any kind of medical
information to you via e-mail.
